Flashback Friday

Christmas is so much better with The Mini. This was her 3rd Christmas at home. I love to look at pictures and see how much she has changed.

Christams Re-Cap

We had a FABULOUS Christmas. It was just the 3 of us Christmas morning and it was perfect. We got up around 9am and got food started (remember, we are taking dinner with us to the house 'o nuggets) We woke The Mini up around 930 and got started on the present frenzy. She really understands the whole "Santa and the present" thing this year so it was fun. All she kept asking for was a pink princess flashlight and a singing barbie. I put the flashlight in her stocking and when she got it she ran to The Hubs and launched herself at him squealing "thank you daddy!"

Just for the record- I was the one to stand in line at T*ysRUS at 4am on Black Friday to find the coveted pink flashlight and I got ZERO credit.

Anyway- The Mini would be totally content with 1 or 2 things and gets sidetracked. She will open a gift and not care about the other 20 things under the tree. Last year we ended up saving half of her Christmas presents for her birthday b/c she was so overwhelmed. (in her defense, the HUBS did go WAY overboard last year)

The hubs seemed pleased with his toys this year, even if the boys weren't! I, too,was spolied. Couldn't have asked for a better Christmas morning.

Next came the trip to see the Hubs family. This is where it starts to get a little Griswald. (again, remember the nuggets?) More on that later...

Dickens Dinner

Actually, I have no idea why they call it that. Just another dinner at the club with all the usual suspects. Then a family photo session just to make you want to poke you eyes out with red-hot pokers for fun. These were the best of the worst.

It's a dogs life

The boys are feeling pretty relaxed about the upcoming holidays. Their shopping done, wrapping complete and they are just chillin' by the pool waiting for the fat guy in the red suit to make an appearance.

Nuggets for Christmas

You just can't make this stuff up.

The usual Christmas plan is for my family to come down and stay with us for the holiday. This year due to a big family fight we decided to have Christmas as just the 3 of us. We hadly ever see The Hub's family at the holidays b/c no one can make a plan , they don't really "do" the big family holiday thing. Usually works out just fine. This year b/c my family was acting like total asses not coming down, I told the Hubs that if he wanted to try to plan something with his family- this would be the perfect time.

Let me preface this with- NO ONE in either of our families is capable of making a plan in advance. Drives us both crazy. Probably more me than him in my type A, anal, OCD organized thinking, but I digress.

He gets the involved parties on the phone and tries to make a plan. By make a plan, I means suggests a day to get together. Fine, whatever. I still have no idea what the actual plan is. Problem is, neither does he. I make him get back on the phone and nail down a "real" plan- meeting place, time, activites involved (food, gifts etc) Everything is all set. Then, the bottom falls out of the plan. Hubs calls back to verify and finds that instead of my MIL brining a ham for Christmas dinner, her husband boyfriend Frank has decided to bring Chicken nuggets. Seriously. Hubs says "You're F*cking kidding, right?" (so much class...)

Now I love a good nugget as much as the next person. I just have a perception of what I think Christmas dinner should be- and it usually doesn't involve food that comes in a cardboard carton.

So, long story short, I am now brining the ham, apple pie, key lime pie, an appetizer and rolls. All to be cooked, packaged and ready to leave by noon on Christmas day. Good times. Nothing like relaxing for the holidays...

Thankful Thursday

I am SO THANKFUL for this beautiful little girl I get to call my daughter. She is the light of my life! And for those that are keeping track- YES, we visited Santa again. Now that she has decided she likes him, we can't go within 50 feet of him without stopping to say hello!

and NOT SO THANKFUL Thursday

Are ya'll familiar with this evil steriod? I am. I have been on prednisone before--- it was not pretty. I don't mean "not pretty" in that it made me feel funny. I mean BAD, HORRIBLE, MAKES ME MEAN NOT PRETTY. The last time I was on it was for a 6 day taper. This time I am supposed to take a 12 day taper. So much for Wishing you a Merry Christmas, my husband is going to be praying for Peace on Earth, Good will towards Men!

Santa BABY!

She never fails to amaze me. Every time we see Santa in the mall, she makes some sort of high pitched screaming noise and covers her ears. I, being the kind, compassionate mother that I am gently tell her it's all okay and she doesn't have to tell her to suck it up, I am getting my picture of her with Santa. It all started out the same this year as years past, the screaming and clinging. After I warned the "elves" about the screaming, I plunked her down in Santa's lap- and what do you know, a little Christmas miracle. There was no crying! There was no clinging! She sat there and talked to Santa and actually told him what she wanted for Christmas! (which incidently is going to set me back a whole $4!) Please excuse the glare in my pictures- I was too awestruck to worry about my photography skills!

P.S. Anyone know what a singing Barbie is? This is a new addition to her list...

Christmas 2006 Proof that she really hates Santa. Last year The Hubs wouldn't even go with me to get the obligatory picture since he said it was torture so I only have the "mall" photo.

'Tis the season

Really, how can you not love the holidays when they inspire such great photo ops?

I don't have any pictures of Gus in "holiday wear" He is the least cooperative of the bunch. His halloween costume was a disaster.

Time Flies By

Three years ago today we saw the face of our beautiful baby girl for the first time. It seems like it was just yesterday...
